The end of the contract with your childcare provider
end home childcare

When the adventure ends with your licensed nanny.

And now, your little darling is starting "big kid" school in September and tomorrow he will say goodbye to his nanny, it's the last step. He's big enough now to spend all day at school with his teacher and his peers.  Nevertheless having to say goodbye pulls on your heart strings.

The end of the contract.

Several reasons can lead to the end of the home care at your childcare professional's.

  • A break in the contract following a dispute (a bad relationship, unresolvable problems...),
  • Professional leave on the part of your childcare professional (retirement, sick leave, maternity leave, a move to another city...),
  • The contract is coming to a close as agreed upon (child is old enough, school is back in...).

In mommy blogger Erin's case she just couldn't make the schedule work with her children's caregiver and so it was time to say goodbye. Read more about her experience on her blog Working Mother Chronicles.

The last day at your childcare professional's.

In order for your child to handle the separation better, try to talk to him as soon as possible. On the last day, you can mark the occasion and have a coffee or glass of wine together. Your child will give her pretty pictures or something special he has been working on for her. This will help them better prepare for farewells.

Testimonial from a childcare professional :
One of the greatest parting gifts I received was this book of pictures of the most magnificent scenery, each one more beautiful than the previous. The mom wrote me a long thank-you on the first page, her words were touching especially seeing the stains of the many tears that she had let slip while writing it...
