Termination or the end of the contract with your childcare assistant dismissal childcare provider

The end of the agreement with your childcare professional.

This time, it's the end, the contract between you and your child's caregiver is ending. Regardless of how this adventure will end, you will perform your last administrative procedures, and that's rather good news.

If you have prepared a detailed contract with your childcare provider, the terms for termination should be fairly clear. They can also vary quite a bit! Some childcare professionals might require 4 weeks notice before ending the agreement while others might expect 4 weeks notice plus additional compensation for breaking the contract early.  Be sure you know her policy (that you agreed to!) before ending the contract.

Who breaches the contract?

Both parties are able to breach the contract and are required to give a certain amount of notice, as agreed upon. Perhaps your childcare provider is taking her retirement or your family is moving because of work opportunities elsewhere or  your childcare provider's mother has fallen ill and she has decided to become her full-time caregiver. There are a million possibilities but in all cases you should respect the agreement. Exception being in extreme cases where the caregiver is unfit or is endangering the safety or wellbeing of the child.

The different types of breaches in contract of a childcare provider.

Depending on the situation, which brings you to terminate the contract, you might wonder which type of breach concerns you. Sometimes it's blurry, as in the case when a childcare provider loses her license..

Termination and final settlement for your childcare professional.

Now that you know where you stand on the breach of contract and you have received or sent the letter announcing the date of termination, you have to get out the calculator to calculate the precise final payment.

The last remaining paperwork.

Perfect! All that's left to do collect your last receipts from the caregiver and provide a letter of reference if the split was amicable.  And after this step? It's over! You have fulfilled your employer parental role to the end.
