The adaptation with your childcare assistant, how to organize it.
adaptation home daycare

Starting the childcare little by little

One week, maybe even two weeks are necessary for the adaptation period and it's important for the child, the parents and the childcare assistant.
If you don't feel ready, it's best to extend the beginning of the adjustment period, which is necessary to build confidence and getting to know each other slowly.

How the adaptation works.

Depending on the customs of the childcare assistant, the adaptation can be different. It can take 4 days up to a week or two thereabouts. We could have, for example:

  • Monday: one hour with mom and dad present. The childcare assistant will care for the baby under your supervision. This can be an opportunity to discuss the child's habits.
  • Tuesday: you're already more relaxed and assured. You will stay one hour of the two. This will be an opportunity for her to really get to know your little one.
  • Wednesday: if everything went well the day before, you can plan for 4 hours. You will stay just a half an hour, then you will leave your baby with the company of the other children. This time the baby will eat at the childcare provider's home.
  • Thursday: it's the first big day during which you won't stay more than fifteen minutes. He will have lunch and maybe a snack, take his nap and do some activities appropriate for his age.
  • Friday: now begins a schedule that looks like the one you agreed upon in the contract. Six hours, eight hours, or even more for some.

The childcare assistant, you and your child.

You were worried about the idea of taking this step. And finally, everything went well. Your child seems to get along well with the new guardian. You feel relieved and you can resume your work with a bit more peace of mind. Of course, you will still need time before accepting this separation.
