Finding the 2nd family and the nanny for shared childcare family shared nanny

Choosing the family number 2 and the nanny

You've chosen a nanny share as your preferred method of childcare, now you need to get things organized to find the other family with whom you will share the nanny.

Once you have found the family that best meets your criteria (lives nearby, common schools, children of similar ages, similar educational principles...), you're going to start looking for the nanny who will take care of the children, taking turns between the families' homes. That is, unless, you already have your Mary Poppins!

Where to find a second family?

Like all forms of childcare, the research stage is crucial, you'll spend a few hours to select the ads you found in around town or online. Remember what the most important criteria are when you are looking for a family: do they live nearby? are our schedule similar enough? do we have similar principles?

Of course, the site top-nanny won't have escaped you, you can enter certain criteria that allow you to narrow your search.
Marianne at AMotherWorld offers a list of questions to ask yourself when looking for a family to share a nanny with as well as a ton of other good advice, read more on here.

Choosing the nanny for a shared agreement.

Is the hiring process for a shared nanny different? Not really.
She will simply agree to have two workplaces, two contracts and two payslips. The main difference is that, once you think you have found a joint family, you should ensure that you have the same recruitment criteria, or as close as possible.
You may find yourself facing two situations, you or the other family has already found a nanny, or you will have to choose together.

On top-nanny you can search for a family that has already found its nanny or rather one who is waiting find a nanny together, with your help of course.

Agencies

If you do not have much time to devote to finding a second family to hire your nanny in joint custody, you can turn to specialized agencies that will cater  to your concerns and needs. If the agency has a family in the same area and who suits your needs they will put you in touch and help you with the agreement.
After your interview, and once you have set all the terms of your nanny share, the agency will offer a number of nannies corresponding to the profile you're looking for.
