Problems that tarnish the relationship with the childcare provider.
We will discuss in this chapter of the problems you might encounter with your childcare professional that are related to how she operates or her day-to-day care. Of course a nanny who cares for three children from different families can hardly satisfy everyone, but there are some issues on which you cannot compromise.
The "little" problems of the everyday:
- hygiene problems (nose not wiped, dirty hands, clothes that smell like urine…..),
- food (unbalanced meals or not what you had agreed upon),
- not respecting child's napping needs,
- lack of educational activities,
- she does her shopping with your child,
- the television is on more often than you'd like,
- few or no trips outdoors.
Serious misconduct that can lead to accidents at the childcare provider's
They include:
- risks to the safety of the child (no baby gates, open fires with no protection, aggressive dogs, no car-seats in the car, etc...
- leaving the child alone or with someone who is not capable or authorized.
In these cases, only one solution exists, ask for a meeting with your childcare provider and to resolve the problems immediately.
Foreseeing problems to the maximum, it starts during the interview!
It's obvious, the more specific you are about what you expect from the childcare provider, the less you will be disappointed with her "blunders". Ask specific and directed questions and try to include most of your expectations in the employment contract.
