Communicating day after day with your childcare professional.
Communicating with the childcare provider on the daily is really necessary for the good of everyone. Although you spend a quarter of an hour, morning and evening, talking to her about how your little one's day went, you may not have time to say all that you want.
And then your little guy starts to get impatient. Him, all he wants is for mommy to refocus on him.
Here are two tips for talking about his days in another way.
Daily summary/log in a notebook
For the little things that happen during the day, you can resort to the "daily log". You might become addicted to this little notebook, and you won't miss a thing.
It became my favourite book, every night before going to sleep, I read the contents of the Robin's days. Naps, meals, his changes, his activities and health. I love reading the little fun little tidbits "Robin took three steps today,". I also noted the information of interest to the nanny such as "Robin had his vaccine yesterday, he hasn't had much of an appetite since yesterday....
Check in with your childcare assistant
If you have something more important to tell or discuss with your childcare provider, ask her for a meeting without the children.
- It may be a problem you are having with her about the schedule or contractual relationship. Do not start a dispute in front of the children even if they are not yours.
- This can include a private matter which concerns you and you do not want to unload on your child. This is the case for separation, death and all the things that children misinterpret in an adult conversation.
If is going swimmingly with your licensed nanny, this does not prevent you to check in from time to time, just to discuss the development of your darling and why not tell her you're happy with her?
