Employing a childcare professional: the administrative process admin childcare assistant

Hiring a licensed childcare professional: the musts-dos, the rights.. and the administrative process!

If there is one thing about which you are still hesitating, it's the process of officially employing a childcare professional. You think it will be a complicated affair and a lot of responsibility. But what if you're wrong?

In every other way, it is the type of care that seems best suited to your family and your childcare needs. So what? Go for it, we will explain it all to you!

Hiring a childcare provider in 10 points

Before signing the contract:

  • Ask her for copies of her accreditation (certificates, diplomas, first-aid training etc) and proof of insurance (home and car, as necessary)
  • Her maiden name, her date of birth and her social insurance number,
  • If you want even more peace of mind, ask for a criminal background check if she has already had one or pay to have one done.

Writing the contract:

  • You should prepare and sign the contract before the childcare commences
  • If you receive monthly childcare allocations from the government; these can be directly allotted to your childcare professional, so that you only pay the remaining amount. Make sure she is okay with this!
  • Make sure you haven't forgotten any important information (vacation clause, length of contract, illness policy, etc)

Monthly

  • Normally your childcare professional will directly receive your government childcare allocation, if you have set this up in advance.
  • You are responsible for covering any costs that are left over after the allocations have been deducted: be sure to make payments on time to stay on the good side of your childcare provider.

Annually

  • Declare the total amount you spent on childcare for the year, you will need your childcare provider's social insurance number.
  • Lastly, review your contract annually in case you would like to make any changes to your agreement or the conditions of the childcare.

What you should know about the contract between you and your home childcare assistant.

One of the most important topics of this chapter is undoubtedly the contract that you will sign with your childcare assistant. It will determine all the period you will employ your assistant. Well put together, a concrete contract is the assurance of a good relationship with little conflict!   Conversely, a contract signed on the fly is a bit more likely to have problems.

Modifying the contract of the home childcare provider.

These are exceptional occurrences that can come up during the period of childcare. Some of them are completely unpredictable, while others are quite probable. It is imperative, in this second case, to include certain clauses in the employment contract that will provide an answer when the time comes. This is the case for example of the absence of your child when he is sick.

End of the contract or dismissal of my childcare assistant.

And now, we already nearing the end of the contract with the childcare assistant, you see, it's easier than it sounds, and again, it will go by very quickly, two or three calculations and voila . Of course, it must be done correctly, but by reading this little folder on the breach of contract and its various forms, it will be a breeze.
