I am a 44 year old female. My first job experience was working a little girl that was cognitively and physically delayed. I was 15 years old at the time and I worked with for her family for 4 years. I went on from there to work in group homes with challenged adults. I gained so much from this type of work job wise and personally. I have looked after children since the age of 12. My sister was born with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder which involved challenges for her.
Such as epilepsy. I often helped my mom take care of her. I worked as a full time nanny when i was 21 years old. On weekends I did respite care for a gentleman that was quadrapalegic. Since then I have babysat for many families. With as many as 6 children at once. Ranging from ages new born to 15 years old. I currently am employed part time as a Respite Worker for a seven year old girl. She is non verbal and has other challenges. Twice a week I do therapy with her. We play games and do physical activities to build her social development and vocabulary using her Ipad. This also includes ways to build her physical strength and development as well. I am hoping to find some part time child care work.
