Jessica, garde d’enfant ponctuelle - V4A Surrey southwest

Hi, my name is Jessica, and I am a current student at the University of Victoria. I am 19 years old, with 4 years of experience on-and-off taking care of my cousins who are 4 and 1. I also have camp counsellor training with kids from the ages of 4 to 11.

I am regularly involved with housework, including washing dishes, doing laundry, cooking, and general maintenance of the house. I am able to work quickly and efficiently and thoroughly.

I love kids. I easily bounce off of their energy when it's play time. I love running around with them in backyards and playing games like hopscotch with them. I also find that letting them expend a lot of energy through physical exercise is a way to get them to sit still afterwards when it's time to be still. I am not afraid of messes, and have endless patience when it comes to children.

I am highly musical. I was trained classically in piano for 10 years, taught myself guitar for 5 years, and played the saxophone in a school band also for 5 years. I believe musicality is a great way to engage children, and plan to incorporate music and rhythms into some of the games we play.

With the kids I plan to encourage their creativity and imagination through art activities. I could bring in colouring books and supplies like feathers and glue sticks to create fun projects.

I realize that all kids vary. Some enjoy sit-down activities like reading or drawing. Others who are more restless are inclined to participate in sports. I am flexible in the activities I can provide for the kids I am responsible for.
