Hello families of Canmore!

My name is Jessica, and I am currently looking for a childcare position for May to early September 2015.

I am an outgoing, naturally friendly and optimistic person who loves working with children. I am very outdoorsy, and have a passion for natural history and being outside. Most of my hobbies include being active and outdoors, such as hiking, camping, canoeing, and rock climbing. I also enjoy reading, yoga, and cooking or baking. I am currently enrolled at the University of Guelph, and will be graduating in 2016 with a Bachelor's Degree in Family Relations and Human Development.

My experience in childcare began 7 years ago when I was in high school, volunteering with the YMCA on weekends in various children's programs. Since then, I have babysat for multiple families, worked as a lifeguard, volunteered at my highschool with students with developmental disabilities, volunteered at an children's Orphanage in Ghana and had a government job at a daycare in 2011.

My last two summers were spent working for Ontario Parks as a park naturalist and interpreter. My primary responsibilities were to develop and implement fun and educational programs for park visitors in order to inspire emotional and intellectual connections between the visitors and the natural world. All of these programs were created to be especially engaging and stimulating for children. Some of the programs I created or assisted with include guided hikes, theatrical performances, prop talks, and arts and crafts programming. After my first summer with Ontario Parks I was honored to receive the Partners Bursary Award for demonstrating outstanding service to the public following nominations by my peers and park visitors.

As a result of my diverse employment and volunteer background, and my current university education, I feel I am very well-suited to be a caregiver for any family. I understand the importance of proper childcare, and will provide a nurturing, safe and fun environment for your children. If your children love spending time outdoors in the summer, then I am the perfect match! Aside from being generally active and having experience with many different sports, I can come up with fun and (discreetly) educational outdoor or indoor activities, cook, clean around the house, and much more.
