Katelyn, nourrice à domicile à Camrose

My name is Katelyn. I come from the small town of Ponoka. I am new to Camrose. Before I moved here I worked at the Ponoka Youth Centre with children ages 5 to 12 as a Child Development Assistant. I helped with many different activities with the kids along with taking care of them, and becoming friends with them. My mother had a day home for all ages from the day I was born until my grade 9 year. I still talk to many of the kids that my mother took care of, including a young boy that has autism. For the last 5 years I have watched this boy grow in my care as I took care of him after school and walked him to where he needed to be. I am familiar with autism and have no problem working with children with special needs.

Girl Guides has been a big part of my life, from Sparks to Rangers and also a Brownie leader for a year. I got to be involved with many different ages and people. We would go on different camping trips and do different activities, so I am able to use these ideas with the children in my care to provide a fun and exciting time for them. I was able to be a leader for children from ages 5 to 11 for 4 summers at Vacation Bible School along with being a leader for 2 summers at Mulhurst Lutheran Bible Camp for ages 5-12. I have also been involved with Big Brother Big Sister for the last 4 years with two different 'little sisters'. During this time, I learned many different things, like how to create different activities and how to turn something small and old into something big and new. I am very close to the children I work with and try to get to know them so I can make difference in their lives.

In the future I wish to presue Youth Ministry, to teach younger people about the Bible and what believing can do. After taking Youth Ministry, I wish to go into acting to make people smile and feel the emotion being shown on stage. I enjoy many different things including art, acting, and sports such as cross-country, soccer and volleyball. The thing I enjoy the most is being around people.

I currently just got my First Aid also.
