My background in summer camps, as well as outdoor education facilities, has prepared me well for the position in question. The skills I apply in my current work as an outdoor educator can be
smoothly and effectively transferred to a position with your family. Having grown up in Tasmania, Australia and completing my high school education in 2013, I moved to Canada to pursue a career in outdoor education and development. I am currently positioned in the Algonquin Highlands working and living at Camp Kandalore.
My previous experience at this camp includes a Fall Season contract in 2014 as well as a Winter Contract in 2015. Other outdoor education work experience includes 2 summer seasons
at Zajac Ranch for Children, which is a summer camp based in Mission, British Columbia, that caters to children and adults living with severe or chronic illness and/or disability.
I strongly believe that my experience working with children of all ages, in a residential camp environment, would make me a large asset to any family. As an outdoor education facilitator, my
day to day interaction with children can include (but isn't limited to):
• Creating a safe and productive environment for outdoor learning
• Facilitating an environment that encourages positive relationships and development
• Leading group activities such as High Ropes, Rock Climbing, Archery, Canoeing and Team Games
• Demonstrating pride in my work environment by helping to keep the facility clean and orderly
• Adapting games and programs to fit the population using the facility
Working alongside families to create a fun and safe environment for children is my idea of the perfect job. I would be thrilled to work with your family, bringing a positive attitude and matching the energy level of you children.
