Kerry, garde d'enfant à domicile à Ottawa (vanier)

My name is Kerry. I am the mother of two girls 7&9. Now that they are both in school full time and I have taken some time for myself I am looking to re-enter the workforce.
As a provider I am strict but firm and always respect the child(ren).
I try to give them the space and opportunities to grow and learn.

I have worked as a nanny for several different families while working on my Early Childhood Diploma. As well I have co-op experience from high school in different nursery school situations and volunteering at CHEO in the playrooms setting up activities for the kids and supervising.
Upon completion of my diploma I have worked in two different daycares one in Montreal and the other here in Ottawa. in Montreal I was there for approximately 3-4 years and here in Ottawa I was at the Centre from1998 until mid 2010. I decided at the end of my maternity leave to stay at home and give my children the best thing I could give myself! As this is my training and could not rationalize someone else doing this for me.
When working in someone's home I try to follow a routine just as I would in a daycare just with more flexibility to change it up depending on the children's mood/interest at the time.
I also firmly believe meeting with the family and a hands on trial for a few hours(or other mutually agreed upon time frame) is a must. This is because from experience someone may seem great on paper but when it comes to working together its a disaster as your beliefs and methods are just miles apart!

In a perfect world my ideal hours would be 930-230 so as not to require before/after care for my children but this is not a make or break detail.
