Currently I work as an Educational Assistant for the public school board. Here are some of my responsibilities:
• Developing coping skills and trigger recognition using ABA and evidence based practice with students who have Autism from kindergarten to grade 3.
• Working with grades 7 and 8 with different levels of development and abilities. Primarily assisting students with mental health issues, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Autism.
• Providing students with strategies for success in the classroom, coping skills and trigger recognition, as well as providing academic support.
• Facilitating homework club before and after school, running the talent show and yoga classes.
• Support with grading, supervision, program planning and classroom management.
I have my child and youth care advance diploma and a degree in psychology. I have worked professionally with children of all ages and developmental ability for four years. I have experience working with children who struggle with behavioural issues, mental health illness, Autism, learning disabilities and other exceptionalities.
