Sarah, gardienne d’enfant - V2Y Langley township northwest

I am a 35 year old mom to 3 children and have been working with children since I was 12 years old, including special needs children. My husband and I were foster parents to two children that were siblings. We raised them for 4 years full time until they returned to their mother. They both had Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder as well as ADHD, reactive attachment disorder and oppositional behaviour disorder. I worked one on one with social workers, school teachers and teacher's aids. I took different types of training over the 4 years to help care for them and their needs properly. In September of 2005, I had started a home childcare in my town in Ontario and have watched over 40 children over the next 9 years. I loved my chosen career and never regretted it. Since moving to BC, I have decided that I would like to continue in the childcare field. I was also a respite provider and have experience with special needs children. I have attended church since I was a baby and was always involved in children's ministry. I have been a nursery volunteer, a Sunday school teacher as well as a director for Vacation Bible School for 3 years.

~In January 2015 I was hired on to work one on one with a 3 year old boy who has developmental delays in his preschool 3 days per week. Because it is part time I am able to watch children before and after school in the Willoughby area. I am also able to drive them to and from school.
~I am enrolled for the Special Education Assistant Teacher program for September 2015. I can still work part time as I am doing a combination of online and in class at the college.
