Thank you for taking the time to review my resume, and for considering me for this position.
To give a bit of background on myself, I am twenty years old, and recently relocated to Lethbridge. I have a wide range of interests and hobbies, included by not limited to: visual & fine arts (Specifically theatre & music), and outdoors activity (such as camping and hiking). I have a passion for working with animals and children, and am considering both as potential career paths. I hope to return to university within the next couple of years. Currently, I work two part-time positions at Park Place Mall, and while I enjoy both, I am ready to take my career path in a new direction.
I have a wide variety of childcare experience, the most notable being that I was a live-in nanny this past spring and summer. My charges were two girls, aged three and one, whom I typically had from early morning to late afternoon, as well as helping the parents out with them in the evenings. My responsibilities included but were not limited to diapering, feeding, running basic errands with the children, helping to put them to sleep at night, accompanying the parents to the city in order to keep the children occupied, and keeping them occupied and content throughout the day, often with games or trips to the park. I was also responsible for daily household duties, such as vacuuming, sweeping, doing the dishes and meal preparation. Some of our greater accomplishments during our time together were improvement with both girls’ eating, sleeping schedules, and basic manners. We also worked a little bit on potty-training (for the three year old) and walking (for the one year old).
As well, I have four younger siblings (All currently under the age of five), and am often tasked with watching them/helping our parents out. These tasks include diapering, feeding, accompanying them on outings to help watch the children, and keeping them occupied while our parents take care of various tasks. My siblings are very important to me, and I enjoy spending time with them. Some of our favorite activities include board games, coloring, art projects, going to the park, or playing outside in the yard.
On top of this, I have been helping my mother with her babysitting charges since I was young, and babysitting on my own since I received my certification when I was eleven. I have babysat various age groups, but the majority of my experience is with children aged six and under. I also casually volunteered with various Sparks unit during my pre-teen/teen years, often tasked with keeping the younger girls occupied with games while the adults prepared snacks/activities.
I am a dedicated, reliable, hard-working, & optimistic individual who is quick & eager to learn, and I believe I would be an excellent match for this position.
