Evelyn, babysitter - R1N Portage la prairie

My name is Evelyn. I worked as a Psych Nurse for approx. 35 years - so presently I am retired and living on an Old Age Pension. I would love to veer off slightly from the experience I've had regarding child care and Psych Nursing since I believe a 'normal' child has enough challenges of their own, especially learning to trust someone who they don't know to take care of them and be there for them emotionally, physically, spiritually, educationally, etc. I'm a pretty rounded person - I have retired, but find I still need purpose in my life. I believe I have lots to offer a child who would be under my care. I am a musician (play guitar, piano and sing- I was professional for some years) and I know that music therapy can go a long way with anyone!!! I'm only looking for part-time work. Presently I don't have a vehicle, so I wouldn't be able to pick the child up from school or other activities. My child is 29 (my, how time flies) and I do miss those years where we spent time doing crafts, story telling (my daughter came to appreciate reading books, thank goodness!) and she did learn to play the piano just by watching me and much patience was required on my part. At one point, my daughter required 2 surgeries on her back due to severe scoliosis. I still feel guilty or negligent that I didn't pick up on this, but my antennae are up now! I spent 2 weeks in hospital with her and when she came home, I home-schooled her for a few months until she was ready to resume regular school. I love children - I learn so much from them! I would like to get together with the parents regarding the care of the child, especially reward/punishment (although I hate to use that word), but I am fully competent in behaviour modification and dialectical behaviour therapy. I wish it had been there for me as a child.
