Serina, au pair - V4L Delta southeast

Hi, my name is Serina. I am 17 years old, just graduated from high school, and heading to University of Toronto this fall. I am applying for this job because I don’t want to waste time sitting around at home this summer.

I am a Chinese Canadian, and my mom took me and my little brother Justin here in Canada when I was 5. My dad was working in China at that time so I took on a lot of responsibilities taking care of my brother. He was 1 at that time and whenever my mom is busy or away I would be looking after him, calming him down, and playing with him. Therefore, I got quite professional at changing diapers, feeding him, bathing him, entertaining him, and singing lullabies. Five years later my mom had another baby boy Austin, and I picked up all the babysitting skills that I almost forgot, and made her life much easier. This is one thing that I am proud of myself. I am a responsible, mature, teenager. I learn things very fast and domestic education taught me to treat people with care, patience and respect.

I’m confident that I will love this job. Last summer I spent two weeks in a summer camp with children. It took me two hours to get there but every single day I woke up feeling motivated and excited. I love children! Each one of them is so unique and delicate. I enjoy talking to them, having fun with them, and watching them laugh. This is my first babysitting job ever, I am filled with enthusiasm.
