Sarah's extras

Presentation

Hi there!
My name is Sarah, and I am an 18 year old student! Starting in September of 2018, I’ll be attending the University of Waterloo to get a degree in Social Development Studies with a minor in Cultural Diversity! I’m very excited about this!
Generally, I will be able to find my own transportation to/from your home, but in certain emergency or last-minute situations, I may need your help with this.
I am a very unique and creative person. My work history includes being a seasonal actress at Fear Farm, a haunted house. Because of this, I’m very creative, used to entertaining groups of kids at a time, comfortable outdoors, and easily able to come up with stories, plans, ideas, games and characters on the spot.
In the past, activities I have used to occupy children I’ve babysat include (but aren’t limited to:)
-Arts and Crafts: Painting, pastels, crayons, markers, beading, play-dough, finger painting, collages, scrapbooks and more.
-Outings/Excursions: Petting zoos, walks/runs, swimming at community or backyard pools, YMCAs, bike rides, movie theatres, malls, parks, walking dogs/other pets with kids, bowling, mini-golfing, birthday-parties, nature walks, butterfly conservatory, backyard camping and more.
-Home Economics: Baking cookies, cakes, cupcakes & brownies with kids, teaching children cooking fundamentals (toast, cereal, scrambled eggs, frozen pizzas, oatmeal, canned soups, salads, pasta, KD, sandwiches, popcorn, smoothies, milkshakes, cheese and crackers, veggies and dip, fruit salads, sundaes, etc, ) dishwashing, cleaning kitchen, doing laundry, bath time, bed time, diaper changes, homework help (regular tutoring will mean higher hourly rates - usually around 17$/hr if I’m tutoring and babysitting at once, however if it’s only occasional/checking their work, there is no extra cost - qualified in religion, art, drama, social studies, english, psychology, elementary level math and science, sociology, anthropology, elementary french, home ec, history, geography & photography.) etc.
-Miscellaneous Activities: Legos, puzzles, board games, gardening, pet care, movie nights, story time, barbies, hide & go seek, makeovers (painting nails, straightening hair, light makeup, braiding hair, etc - only with parental permission!) backyard obstacle courses, chalk, etc.
I’m available any times between 6am and 1:30am every day, 5 days a week, (the days/times can be flexible!) with the exceptions of holidays, university reading weeks, and certain family committments that may come up.
Personally, I love to read, write, sing, dance, swim, act, play with animals and kids, take boat rides, paddle board, ride bikes, watch terrible 80’s movies and listen to even worse 80’s music, climb trees, watch soap operas with my family, garden, cook, travel, bake, and watch documentaries! I’m always open to trying new things, and meeting new people, and as long as everyone is safe, I’m open to anything.
I am also willing and capable to babysit special-needs children, as I have past experience with this and it is actually a big part of my program at UW.
If any safety or health concerns come up, my brother lives in town with his girlfriend, both of whom are registered nurses and are always willing to help if a child is too injured/ill for me to handle!
I am fluent in english, and speak basic french, spanish, and german - not enough to be fluent or teach another person, but enough to be able to communicate effectively in emergencies.
I am open to working long hours, and if I am ever needed to stay overnight/for a few days, I’m certainly willing to, but I will be living at residence at UW next year, so it would have to be at the family home.
I have no allergies to pets, animals, plants, or foods (my only allergies are to medications - morphine and penicillian, ) so it’s totally okay for me to work in virtually any home setting!
I am very excited to develop some lasting relationships through this opportunity, and not only that, but to further enrich my education through child-care, as I hope to one day be a social worker either in a school, or within an immigration or adoption agency!
For further information, please feel free to contact me directly.
Best regards,
Sarah!
