I am a part time student studying Special Care Counselling at Vanier College. I chose this field because I have always wanted to work with youth who have special needs and youth at risk.
I have worked with children for over 6 years and I am planning to work with children the rest of my life.
I was a day camp counsellor for 7 years and a shadow for a child for 3 years. I have also been a tutor for a student with selective mutism for 4 years.
In the Special Care Counselling program, we are required to do three stage placements. My one was at a High School helping students with anxiety and academics. The second stage I did was at a group home.
I have experience with ABA therapy and will be getting my certification for ABA therapy during the summer.
