I am a young adult with some experience with both regular and special needs children. I like to work with the children as the parents like, in terms of disciplinary measures and level of interaction with the kids. I am an individual that is very focused on safety and well being of the kids I watch. I do not like to slack off or get distracted, and I also don't like to treat children like their presence is either unwanted or unappreciated. I do not believe in anger or violence, but I will be as assertive as the parents want to ensure the children don't get into the habit of misbehaving. Communication is an important part of childcare in my opinion, and I very much like to make the kids I watch understand why things are the way they are, in terms of rules and conduct. I'm currently looking to save money up for college, and I currently live with my older sibling. We both share responsibilities of paying rent and doing chores around the house, which shows that despite my age, I know how to care for myself and others.
I do have some social problems, but this becomes an asset when it comes to children who have anxiety problems. These problems do not get in the way of childcare- I simply take a little bit of time to get to know the children, and once I do, I can usually make them feel right at home. This also gives me the ability to be empathic with those who have unexplained break downs, as I know healthy coping mechanisms that can also be taught to those children.
I don't have much experience with activity planning, but I'm a very active learner, and I understand the importance of getting a child some fresh air and excersize. I had been certified as a child care provider when I was in middle school, but as we all know those lessons can easily become out dated. I believe in keeping up to date on safety measures, which is why I will be working towards getting the first aid's course as soon as possible. I have dealt with children who have had allergies and other health problems, so I know how to spot an emergency. I also contact the parents immediately when there is a problem that puts the child's health at risk.
I am currently unemployed and attending a school that allows me to be there on flexible hours, this leaves me open for odd hours for children as well. I also have no problem in staying up for long hours, and am very professional when it comes to babysitting. This means I won't be contacting friends while on the job, nor bringing anyone over.
Once I get to know the children, I am a very friendly and positive individual. I believe that the younger you are, the more senstive you are to negativity, which means that I will always do my best to be in the best mood possible around the children.
Feel free to contact me if you feel the need to get to know me :) I'm always happy to make sure that you feel your children will be safe and cared for.
Occasional babysitting | $7.50 net pay per hour |
Partial / after-school care | $7.00 net pay per hour |
I'm not the most experienced babysitter, nor do I have the credentials some people may need. I will be looking into getting my first aid's course soon, however that won't be immediate. Rates are negotiable with the families :)
