Hello! My name is Lindsay, I am a 25 year old female new to Alberta (from Saskatchewan). I am currently living in Calgary, AB but hoping to make the move to Banff/Canmore Area soon. I have much experience working with children, and it is truly what I love to do! I have worked every summer for the past 10 years at summer camps known as Easter Seals. Easter Seals provides camping experience to children and adults with disabilities and serious illness. I have worked as a Counsellor, Supervising Senior Counsellor, Team Leader, Program Coordinator, Outdoor Education Facilitator and White Water Raft Guide there over the years. I believe my camp experience makes me stand out as a caregiver as I am very creative, love the outdoors and am comfortable with larger groups of children. In Saskatchewan I worked for a daycare called "Hopes Home". It is an inclusive daycare that has typically developing children as well as those with special needs and high medical needs. Here in Alberta, I have been been working for an organization called the Cause and Effect Foundation. I work as a Child Development Facilitator with children aged 6 months- 6 years, both typical and with special needs, helping them prepare for the start of school. I work closely with a team of specialists including Speech, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Behaviors Therapy and Education Therapy. We do all we can to allow kids to succeed to the best of their abilities. I am also currently working as a Nanny in the city with two young boys, aged 20 months and 4 years, as well as an occasional respite care provider. I have also spent many years as a caregiver for adults with disabilities and complex needs.
My hobbies and interests definitely include the outdoors. I love to hike, bike, climb, ski, canoe, raft and anything else! Moving to Alberta was a big outdoors change for me and I have taken advantage of being in Alberta's outdoor playground. I love music, I play the piano, am (slowly) learning to play the guitar and I love to sing! I love getting the opportunity to be creative, whether that be in an arts & crafts, games, sports or any other setting. I also love to volunteer and feel like it is an important way to spend time. Over the past few years I have bee involved with Special Olympics, Big Brothers and Big Sister, Best Buddies, PAALS, Easter Seals Camp Horizon, YWCA Woman's Shelter and Kinsmen Club. I have also coached girls basketball, Sports ABC's and ran a Family Fun Night for families in my community.
Hopefully this helped get a little idea of who I am! I am fun, friendly and outgoing and think I would be a great fit with your family! Please feel free to contact me at any time with any questions you may have.
Thank you for your time!
