Hello there, my name is Rachel and I'm a high school graduate taking a year to work and save up money before I go into the nursing program at Sault College next year. I currently work full-time at McDonald's and would prefer a different work environment, one that is more rewarding, one that I am familiar and comfortable with, and away from the fast food calling my name.
I grew up with five siblings and became an aunt at the age of five. I adore kids and have had life-long experience with them. I am always involved helping out with children wherever and whenever possible.
My experience with childcare has been with siblings, nieces, cousins, different part-time babysitting jobs (varying ages, boys and girls, some special needs), as well as a live-in childcare job for a week/weekend at a time. I have been a summer camp counsellor for a weeks time twice in the past two years, I have been a Sunday School teacher in the past and a leader for a church club for children for quite a few years throughout high school. I can provide references, which will all be very positive. I have never worked in a daycare but I come from a family of six and I know how to care for kids.
I love cooking, find comfort in cleaning, can sing, play guitar, piano and flute, I can draw, I love to be silly with kids and I know tons of games that are great for their development and activity levels. I took a childcare class in high school, called Working with Infants and Young Children which aims to teach those basic childcare skills such as diapering, feeding and games for children. I'm also a beginner in ASL and am contuing to learn.
I began babysitting for pay at age 11 and continue on doing occasional childcare. I would like a possible temporary full-time position caring for young children while parents work. I am going to get my bachelor of science next year so it would only be temporary. I am hoping for a stable enough income that I'll no longer need to work in fast food.
Thanks for taking the time to review my profile! I wish you all the best in your search for a childcare provider and I hope you would consider me as a candidate.
Partial / after-school care | $7.00 per hour |
Home nanny | $8.50 per hour |
I currently am working a 36-hour job at $11.25 per hour. Childcare is honestly a more challenging, demanding job but also way more rewarding. Therefore, if a person cannot afford minimum wage (many cannot and that is understandable), I will do $7 per hour as childcare is not an easy task and I too must support myself. Although, rates are ALWAYS negotiable per family and I am very understanding and agreeable.
