Laura, foreign au pair in Gatineau northwest

Hello! I am a fun, energetic, responsible and trustworthy recent psychology graduate. I completed my honours thesis in the Childhood Cognition and Learning Lab at uOttawa, reflecting my genuine love of working with young people! I will be starting my Masters at Trent University in September and am looking to work as a caregiver full-time this summer. I previously worked at a day camp program for 2 years where I planned and executed exciting themed activities for children aged 3 to 13. I was responsible for the care, safety and entertainment of a group of 24 children weekly requiring me to maintain a safe environment, plan fun and structured activities, help younger children throughout the day to change and put on sunscreen as necessary, and supervise off-ground field trips. I have taken High Five certification (a course about implementing principles of child development into recreational activities for children). I am very fun, playful, creative and enthusiastic, but also extremely responsible, accountable, and trustworthy. I am also a great cook and can help with other household activities as needed. My hobbies include music (I play guitar and sing), sewing, crafts, and theatre, so I'm a great partner for creative play! I also like to stay active by doing yoga and going running. Reading is another of my favourite pastimes. I have been an occasional babysitter for children 12 months of age to 10 years of age over the past 7 years. I am confident that I could create safe and fun experiences for your children while they are in my care and look forward to getting to know you and your family!
