Meghan, childcare - T9X Vermilion

Hello! I'm Meghan, I'm 23 and I'm planning on moving to Vermilion, AB at the end of June. I've recently graduated my program in Human Services and completed an 8-week practicum on the Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Unit at the local hospital in my town (Moncton, New Brunswick). At the Psychiatric Unit I held therapy groups (on assertiveness, healthy relationships, self-esteem, etc), made sticker charts for behavior modification purposes, disciplined children when needed, and took the children out into the community for activities (movies, playground, walks, etc.). I have experience in caring for the children in that unit, as well as providing nearly full-time childcare for my 4 foster siblings, whose ages all range between 4-9 years of age. I put them to bed, read stories to them, take them out to town, transport them to and from school/daycare, provide meals for them, supervise them while playing, and so on.

Some qualities I have as a childcare worker are patience, understanding, caring, nonjudgmental attitude, a sense of imagination, creativity, musical ability (guitar, piano, ukulele, percussion, etc.), supportiveness, and encouragement.

So I'm looking for a fulfilling job where I get to hang out and have fun with kids, as well as support them and take care of them in whatever way is needed. I love taking kids out and about for day outings for treats or activities, cooking for them, and I can clean up around the house as well. I am skilled in the strengths-based model of conflict resolution -- focusing on the good instead of the bad -- and take pride in my disciplinary skills. I don't have a car at present but I can easily walk anywhere in Vermilion to work.
