Hi!
My name is Melea Ward. I am the eldest daughter of 5 kids and have grown up helping take care of my siblings and their friends. Eight years ago, I started babysitting for neighborhood families and friends. The kids I took care of taught me something very important... I love children! My parents are both psychologists, so at an early age I was introduced to the concept of "child development"; it expanded the way I viewed children and increased my appreciation of each moment I shared with them.
Because of this, I actively began learning about how to take care of kids more effectively. I completed the mandatory Foster Parent training provided by Ministry for Children and Family Development. To further my qualifications, I also completed their Safe Babies course. In addition, I am First Aid Certified. Currently I am working on my degree in Psychology, which includes Child Development education.
I am hoping I can provide part-time care for busy families. I know first hand how stressful it can be to juggle kids' activities, work, and relationships. Sometimes having someone take over for a few hours can be just the thing to give parents a chance to catch their breath.
I'd be happy to help kids with homework; I was on the Principles List during high school and enjoy sharing the joy I've found in academics. I have been involved extensively with classical music and would be more than happy to assist kids in practicing piano or violin. I know the importance of embracing children's creativity and natural desire to learn, so I fully support providing them with the opportunities to explore their imaginations and artistic style.
If you are looking for a nanny or sitter with a passion for kids, then look no further. I'd love to talk with you or meet your kids to see if we'd be a good fit!

Typically rates are discussed with each individual family I work with- I am absolutely willing to be flexible! It usually ends up being $9.00/hr for one child, and an additional $2.00 for each child after that.
