Hi, my name is Sophia Roy. I am a student at Riverview High School. I will be going into grade 11 in the fall. I am a French Immersion student, so I am able to speak both English and French, and I have Honours With Distinction. I love kids, I have been taking care of them ever since I started Junior High at the age of 12. I have babysat up to 4 children at once, all different ages. I love the outdoors and I'm not scared to get my hands dirty! I love to cook, and I don't mind tidying up and cleaning up messes.
This summer I have been looking for a job, but so far I am completely free! So, basically I can work any time unless someone else books me. In my profile I said that I don't have a car because I don't. But my mom doesn't work in the summer so I have access to one.
I took the babysitting course when I was around 11 years old. I was also in a Red Cross swim program where I learned CPR, rescue manoeuvres, and basic first aid. I also learned a lot of these things in the babysitting course, but the swim program gave me a lot of help in learning how to save people of all ages in different situations. I have babysat kids of mostly all ages, except for newborns but I would be totally comfortable with them. Honestly, the only thing that I don't know how to do is change a diaper and burp a baby, but I am a fast learner. I love to work hard at what I do, and do it to the best extent that I can. So learning things that I don't know how to do would be great for me.
I usually always bring something fun for the kids to do when I come to a house to babysit. Whether it's crafts, books, games, etc. I try to think up things that would entertain kids, along with teaching them things. My mom is a teacher, and she has had several preschools when I was very young so I love being around kids. I also have my drivers licence so other activities would be available if we travelled.
I love being active, I am a volleyball player, and I love to keep the children that I babysit active and healthy. I believe in healthy eating, and not too much time with electronics. I have coached elementary girls volleyball also and I LOVED it. I love working with kids and being able to teach them things that they can use for the rest of their lives.
The families that I babysit for have praised me several times within the things that I do with their kids. My motto is to treat kids as if they were my own some day, and I believe that everyone should. I love babysitting, and I enjoy every minute of it; even though sometimes it can get crazy!
