Meghan, childcare - A1N Mount pearl

My name is Meghan, but I prefer to go by Jack/Jackie. I am 26 years old. I am an energetic, caring, and approachable individual who strives to be an understanding, dependable, and trustworthy companion to the children I mind.
I have 12 years experience tending to children aged 3+ in a casual home environment as a babysitter for family, friends, and co-workers. I worked as a private tutor for primary and middle school students for several years, specializing in English and various Maths, such as Chemistry and Physics. I have also volunteered as a reading comprehension coach for children aged 6-12, primarily focusing on ESL students.

I strongly encourage open communication, and bring in a sense of independence by presenting the child with opportunities to make choices about the various activities they partake in throughout the day, such as a healthy snack or which homework subject to start with. I also instill a sense of responsibility by including the child in preparing child-friendly meals and easy household chores. I believe in positive reinforcement and encourage and uplift at every opportunity for healthy behavior and choices, and employ firm but fair disciplinary tactics for correcting unwanted behaviors.

As children are keen observers and more often than not put what they see into practice, I introduce as many positive aspects of my own life as I can, including organisational and time management skills, love of reading and drawing, and various physical activities such as walking and biking. Favorite go-to activities include playing tag, soccer, jumping rope, dancing, and memory flashcard games as a fun educational tool.
