I've been babysitting regularly since about 12 (my younger cousins at first, and then neighbourhood kids), I volunteered in my highschool's daycare for 4 years, and did a Co-Op in a grade 2 classroom my senior year. After graduating I was an Au Pair in France for three little girls (0, 2, 4) for a little over 9 months.
