Hi there!
I am soon to be returning to Stratford ON mis April. After completing high school at Stratford Central, I have decided to take time off before going to college so I can save money and become even more familiar with the field I hope to go into. I have been thinking of going into something with children, and what could be better than spending my year off working with children! I fell like having an experience like this would be a huge asset when I decide to go off to college.
I have been around, and baby sat children my whole life. I love it. I have completed 2 cooperative education placements throughout high school. The Royal Palisade, and Hamlet Public School. At Royal Palisade(retirement residence) I worked with the residents in taking them out grocery shopping, and implementing scheduled activities throughout the day. At Hamlet P.S. I did many things. I worked as a teachers assistant in a grade 4/5 class, supervised lunches with the primary students(grade 1) and supervised recess and engaged in outdoor activities with the students. I also took part in a reading program with the grade one students giving them one-on-one extra help. The past 6 months I have been working with the YMCA Simcoe/ Muskoka as a Coordinators' Assistant and have thoroughly enjoyed my time in this position. I also had the opportunity to work PD day camps and lunch coverage at the daycare. I believe continuing this kind of a position would help me obtain more knowledge and experience of early childhood education and development.
Thank you so much for your consideration, I hope to hear back from you soon!
Sincerely, Rebecca
