Hello! I am a 17 year old girl and an only child, but I have taken babysitting courses, Child Development courses, and have watched my best friend’s sisters grow up since birth. I am very creative and very goofy at times, which makes me believe that I am great to work with children.
The care I would like to participate in is often babysitting after school during weekdays or on weekends. If I was your babysitter, I would prefer to care for your kids at your home, as you would have all the resources needed for your children. I would also prefer if your child was potty-trained, because I do not have much experience with toddlers.
Just this past summer, I was working a 6-week full-time job where I worked at an elementary school’s summer day-camp program in my community. My job consisted of coming up with ideas for activities, crafts, and games that helped children express themselves in many different ways such as using creativity and individuality. I worked with approximately 26 children aged 5-12, and was able to connect with each one of them. I got to see them grow and connect with each other over the time period which made me very pleased to see. Not only did I do this work during the summer, but I also did the exact same thing as a volunteer over the past 1.5 years. I have volunteered at 3 different elementary schools, and 2 community centres, where one school care was for underprivileged kids that needed assistance with homework and building positive relationships, and one community centre care was where I volunteered for the Kindergarten Club that had a few children with mental disorders such as PTSD, Epilepsy, Bipolar Disorder, and Tourette Syndrome. Working with children is my main career goal and believe that this opportunity would be beneficial for an application into a post-secondary career program.
