Odessa, au pair in Saint john west

Hi,
My name is Odessa Shea. I am looking for the opportunity to make use of my specialized child care skills and extensive past experiences in the aim of securing a professional job with sufficient opportunities to undertake new challenges in child development.

My employment history includes: working for the City of Saint John Leisure Services as a Playground Supervisor and Community Center Youth Supervisor, 2012-2015. With these positions I worked with youth from ages 5-18. I was responsible for preparing weekly schedules that fostered a positive play and an enriched learning environment for children that included individual and group activities, sports, games, crafts and trips. I managed a group of 30 children and catered to their needs, providing personal attention to each. I assisted with indoor and outdoor supervision of the children. I coordinated the transport of children from recreation center to field trip locations. I maintained strong relationships with the parents by keeping them informed on children's growth, behavior and development.

I also run a youth group at the Church of the Good Shepherd. We meet one night a week with some of the neighborhood youth. Their ages range from 13-18. As the youth leader / coordinator I am responsible for: preparing weekly lesson plans, providing guidance that supports positive social and emotional development of children, develop activities that helps encourage children to problem solve and multi task, notify parents of any potential behavioral problems, communicate with the youth to understand their problems and help resolve them, coordinate special events and always made sure to maintain a safe play environment for the youth.

This year I will be graduating from the University of New Brunswick Saint John with a Bachelor of Arts in Sports and Exercise Psychology.
