Hello! I'm Becca!
I recently graduated with honours from the University of Lethbridge with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in theatre. I am a very creative person; I love to draw, paint, play guitar, sing, and work on all things drama related.
When I first applied to school I was going to be an elementary school teacher, so I took the beginning courses for that degree giving me experience in that realm of things. I was a student teacher for a semester in a grade two class room, and got to plan my own lessons and lead the class on my own. The teacher supervisor passed me from the practicum with recommendation. I dropped the education part of my degree because I realized I want to work to improve the school system, and/or work to give kids more opportunities to become strong, bright, happy humans outside of the limitations of 8:00am to 3:00pm classroom time.
I have also worked in child care my whole life. Growing up as a babysitter for three younger brothers - the oldest has Aspergers. A few years ago I also worked as a nanny for a family of seven including one boy in high school with Anglemann’s Syndrome. I've worked at a daycare, and I worked at the Nelson Public Library creating and running their kid’s summer reading club. I have a passion for working with special needs children and I’ve never loved any job more than I’ve loved my work with kids.
