I'm20 years old, a second year Nipissing student and very mature. I did a co-op placement in high school at an elementary public school where I was both a one-on-one mentor for boys and girls and also a group mentor to six girls between ages 11-12. I participated in activities with the children such as crafts, physical activities, homework, and acted as someone they could trust. I was responsible for mentoring the group of girls on active living, balanced eating, and self-esteem. Before that I volunteered at my local YMCA in an after school program for kids called "Youth Group". There, I worked with children ranging from grades 1 to 6. To generalize my responsibilities as a youth group leader, it was much like working as a mentor. Aside from actual working experiences with children, I am also an older sister to two and I spent plenty of time looking after and caring for them.
I have no certificates of qualifications , only personal experiences. But I can say that as a psychology student I have learned a lot about child development and I feel that I could really bring some of that knowledge to the table.
